Our Story

Dr. Lee and Dr. Rainford first met during their residency at Georgetown University Medical Center, where they quickly formed a close friendship. Their bond extended beyond their training as they worked together early in their careers, serving patients in community health centers and educating residents at a teaching hospital.

However, both had a strong desire to return home to their respective families. Dr. Lee returned to Chicago, Illinois and Dr. Rainford to Kingston, Jamaica. Over time, both got married and started families—Dr. Lee became a mother of three, and Dr. Rainford a mother of two.

Although separated by distance, they stayed in touch over the years, exchanging birthday greetings and catching up occasionally. Both were driven by a shared desire to improve healthcare delivery for patients and clinicians alike.

In Illinois, Dr. Lee championed efforts to increase access to birth centers and midwifery care. She also pursued advanced studies in integrative medicine and palliative care, expanding her understanding of healing and holistic care.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rainford gained expertise into the health disparities faced by Black women in America and delved into the potential of Lifestyle Medicine to tackle these inequities. She shared her insights through articles, public speaking engagements, a TEDx talk, and by authoring a book.

About two and a half years ago, they reconnected. Dr. Lee was eager to put her knowledge into action, while Dr. Rainford had just started an Executive MBA program at Yale School of Management determined to increase her impact.

Through their renewed conversations, they discovered a shared vision for transforming maternal healthcare. These discussions became the foundation for Enrich Health, a startup driven by their shared passion for improving maternal healthcare and addressing disparities.
